A method for transmitting a short message in a mobile communication terminal is provided to integrate several steps necessary for transmission of a character message by using shortcut keys, thereby directly transmitting the character message. Shortcut numbers are respectively assigned to phone numbers stored in a phone directory of a mobile communication terminal(S1). The shortcut numbers are assigned to sentences commonly used among sentences used when a character message is transmitted, and the assigned shortcut numbers are stored in a sentence storage box(S2). When a first special key, a first shortcut key, and a second shortcut key are inputted, a phone number and a sentence corresponding to the first shortcut key and the second shortcut key are read(S5,S6). When a second special key is inputted, the character message is transmitted to the read phone number(S8). |
