The carton, suitable for products such as baguettes, sandwiches or wraps, comprises a curved front wall 4 with a window 22. The container is made from a tubular blank comprising the front wall hinged to a rear wall 6, which itself is hinged to a base panel 12. The side, or end, walls 8, 10 are hinged to the rear panel 6 and attached to the base panel via flaps 44, 46 which are folded inwardly at lines 52 and attached generally via heat sealing to the side walls 8, 10. The side walls further have tabs, or flaps 36, 38, along a curved edge 28, 28', which are folded outwardly to form a close contact closure with flange 30 of the front face. Tabs 36, 38 can be heat sealed to flange 30, and similarly tab 40 of the base panel can be sealed to edge 16 of the front wall, to provide a fully sealed package. In further embodiments, the curved edge 28 can have a polygonal shape instead of a curved one, and tabs 36, 38 on the side walls, may be substituted for flaps (224, 226, Fig.5) located instead on the front wall, which can be folded towards and sealed against the side walls (212, 214, Fig.5). |
