An ultrasound diagnostic apparatus for measuring a size of an object, and a measuring method thereof are provided to improve convenience and precision of measurement by calculating a size based on a coordinate of a corner point and an outline which are extracted previously. An ultrasound diagnostic apparatus for measuring a size of an object includes an ultrasound image providing unit(102), a user input unit(118), an outline extraction unit(106), a coordinate recognition unit(112), a storing unit(114), a measuring unit(116), and an output unit(120). The user input unit receives a movement and selection command of a pointer, and a calculation command from a user. The outline extraction unit extracts an outline of an object in an ultrasound image. The coordinate recognition unit recognizes a plurality of measured point coordinates on which the pointer and the outline are across with each other. The storing unit stores at least two measured point coordinates of the measured points selected by the selection command. The measuring unit measures a size of the object based on the coordinate of the selected measured point in response to the calculation command. The output unit outputs the ultrasound image, the pointer, the outline, the measured point and the size of the object. |
