The axial blower has an axial propeller (3) and an air guiding unit (1) with a guide ring (2), where the axial propeller has axial blades and a jacket ring (5) connected with blade tips, which forms a radial gap (s) with the guide ring. The guide ring has an inner profile (7), which extends in the radial gap and has divided alternating teeth on the periphery and pockets. An independent claim is also included for a method for the prevention of a recirculation current with an axial blower.
