An unwinding apparatus for metallic wire is described, comprising a reel carrier (1) capable of supporting a coil (4) of metallic wire. The reel carrier (1) has a vertical axis (A) and the unwinding apparatus comprises a wire pusher (2,50) directly connected to the reel carrier, and means (3) for driving said wire pusher; the wire pusher (2,50) is suitable for unwinding the metallic wire coming from said coil (4) at the exit from the unwinding apparatus.
