A preference sub program watching system of different channels and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to monitor preference happening for more than two channels while watching one channel by displaying the information of the preference channels through a controller and encoding/transmitting the broadcasting program information inserted with the happening information. A preference sub program watching system of different channels includes a head end(10), a controller, and client terminals(20). The head end inserts/transmits the happening information. The controller controls the setting of the preference channels or programs and displays the happening information when the information of the preference channels is transmitted. The client terminals have memory parts where the happening information, the preference channel and program registration information are stored. The head end includes a happening input module(110), and a happening encoding module(120). The happening input module inserts the specific happening information. The happening encoding module encodes/transmits the broadcasting program information.
