An apparatus for outputting image signals and a terminal for receiving the image signals to provide data signals using a back light unit, and a method for receiving the data signals are provided to offer image information using data signals included in broadcasting information. An apparatus for outputting image signals includes a broadcasting signal receiver(202), a signal converter(204), a display unit(206), and an image signal output device controller(200). The broadcasting signal receiver receives broadcasting signals. The signal converter separates video and data signals from the broadcasting signals and converts the separated data signals into backlight unit signals according to an output scheme of backlight unit signals. The display unit displays the video signals and the converted data signals. The image signal output device controller determines whether or not data signals are included in the broadcasting signals and controls to output the separated data signals according to the output scheme when the data signals are included in the broadcasting signals.
