A radio frequency (RF) radiation detector comprises an array 2 of antenna elements 3 where at least some of the elements 3 are arranged to receive a RF signal with a first polarisation direction when entering the array 2 and a second polarisation direction when leaving the array 2. The array 2 of antenna elements 3 may be a substantially circular arrangement of dipole elements angled at forty five degrees to a common plane 6. The array 2 of antenna elements 3 may be embedded in a block of dielectric material and nothing inhibiting the RF signal should be within the array 2. The phase front of an incoming RF signal can be analysed using a signal processor 4 to determine the direction of the signal source which may be indicated on a display 5. The antenna array 2 may be able to receive and/or transmit linearly and/or circularly polarised signals from and/or in various directions, respectively. |
