PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demulsifier having the excellent ability to demulsify lubricant/water-soluble liquid, crude oil/water and the like. SOLUTION: This demulsifier consists of the compound (E) expressed by a formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a 2-18C alkyl group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 2-6C alkylene group; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are 1-4C alkyl groups respectively which are identical or different from each other; X is the group expressed by H or -(AO)n-H; A is a 2-4C alkylene group; n is an integer of 1-50).
