In the present invention, there is disclosed a floor covering, consisting of hard floor panels which, at least at the edges (26, 27) of two opposite sides (2, 3)), are provided with coupling parts (4, 5; 28-29), co-operating with each other, substantially in the form of a tongue (9, 31) and grooves (10, 32), whereby the coupling parts (4, 5; 28, 29) are provided with integrated mechanical locking means (6) comprising locking elements (11, 13; 33, 34; 46, 47). The coupling parts (4, 5; 28, 29) and the locking means (6) are made in one piece with a core (8) of the floor panels (1) and the coupling parts (4, 5; 28, 29) ensure mutual clearance-free connection preventing subsequent formation of gaps. The locking elements (11, 13; 33, 34; 46, 47) include a projection arranged on the underside (12) of the (9, 31) and a locking element (13, 34, 47) performed on a projection (23, 43) defining the underside of the groove (10) in the form of a recess. The other side of the projection and the recess is provided with locking surfaces (48, 49; 73, 74), which in engaged state of two floor panels (1) are in mutual contact with each other to prevent the drifting apart of two coupled floor panels (1) into a direction (R) perpendicular to the related edges (2, 3; 26, 27) and parallel to the underside (7) of the coupled floor panels (1). The recess includes an upward extending wall, disposed underneath the tongue when two floor panels (1) are in mutually engaged condition and direct to the projection first side. The projection first side and upward extending walls of the recess define an intermediate space (S-81) serving as dust chamber in the engaged condition of two floor panels (1). |
