<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metal complex salt compound which contains one or more monoazo compounds having an alkyl group as ligands, to provide a charge-controlling agent containing the highly pure metal complex salt compound as an active ingredient and having excellent charge-accumulating/charge-stabilizing properties, and to provide a toner containing the charge-controlling agent. SOLUTION: This method for producing the metal complex salt compound expressed by general formula (I) (R is a 4-12C straight-chain/branched alkyl; Y is a halogen or 1-5C alkyl; as for p and q, p is 1-4 and q is 0-3, provided that (p+q) is 1-6; m is 1-4; L1 and L2 are each -O-; as for L3 and L4, one of the L3 and L4 is -O-, and the other is -OH or -O-; M is Fe, Ni, Al, Ti or Zr; x expresses a number of positive charge of the M and is 2 or more; m is 1-4; Z expresses a number of negative charge of the bracketed part; A+ is H+ or an alkali ion; and n is equal to Z) includes a metallization reaction by which an iron, nickel, aluminum, titanium or zirconium complex salt compound is formed from the monoazo compound expressed by general formula (II), wherein the metallization reaction comprises using a monohydric alcohol or a bihydric alcohol, preferably the monohydric alcohol which is recovered, as a reaction- accelerating solvent.</p> |
