A prismatic battery is provided to allow a vent to be broken easily by concentrating the deformation force when a can of a prismatic battery is deformed by internal pressure, thereby improving the safety of a battery. A prismatic battery comprises an electrode assembly; a prismatic can; and a cap assembly, wherein a safety vent(160) is formed at the middle part of the maximum deformation part, at least some part of a safety vent cutting line(161,162,163) is formed at the position near the side of the prismatic can; and a deformation promoting part(150) is formed along the maximum deformation part at the both parts of the safety vent. The maximum deformation part is the imaginary line connecting the edge of the both parts of the one side of the maximum area side of the prismatic can and the part having relatively large deformation. |
