In a borehole treatment composition (A) containing an aqueous phase, a non-aqueous oil phase, emulsifiers and optionally additives (e.g. weighting agents, fluid loss additives, viscosity regulators, wetting agents, salts, biocides, corrosion inhibitors and/or alkali reserve), the non-aqueous phase is at least partially of 2-propylheptanol esters (I) of linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated 4-18C mono- or dicarboxylic acids.
