A rotary operated pill dispenser is shown for holding and dispensing a collection of pills from several separate compartments. The cover 32 has an integral dispensing porthole 34 which overlies each compartment 40 in turn. Six tapered tabs A-F strategically placed on a ledge of the cover, match a corresponding configuration of open-notches 1,7,12, 19,22 and 28 defined between projections 43 on a flange of the base which, when aligned, allow the cover to be separated from the base 38. The flange has also a series of narrow notches, in between the open-notches, that interact with the tab to provide an indexing function whereby the user can readily align the cover, and porthole, correctly. The dispenser has an integrated conical plastic spring washer (52, Fig.5), fitted on the top edge of the central chamber 56 of the base, which biases the cover and base apart, and keeps the ledge in engagement with the shelf. The central chamber is designed to accommodate a timer and annunciator module (70, Fig.11) which can be set via control knobs (72, Fig.11). The base and cover can be injection-moulded in a suitable transparent plastic material. |
