A method and an apparatus for generating XHTML print data of a device are provided to enable a user to get more various print results by enabling a user to edit layout of contents on the device. A method for generating XHTML print data of a device comprises the following several steps. An XHTML print data generating apparatus searches for contents like image or text from the device(100). The XHTML print data generating apparatus allows a user to select contents used in configuring layout(110). The apparatus allows the user to edit the layout by using the selected contents(120). The apparatus provides a preview screen for the edited layout(130). The apparatus determines whether the user requests the layout to be reedited(140). If the user does not do, the apparatus generates the XHTML print data by using the layout(150). The device transmits the generated XHTML print data to an image forming apparatus via a cable, a connection end, a bluetooth or an infrared communication(160). The image forming apparatus performs a print task by using the transmitted XHTML print data(170).
