A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to improve capacity characteristics in case of the charge/discharge of a battery and to enhance lifetime characteristics. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active mass which comprises a conductive material and a binder, wherein the conductive material has a saturation potential whose open potential is 0.3 V or less in case of the absorption of lithium ions when a negative electrode active material containing lithium-vanadium oxide is charged/discharged, and has a reversible capacity of 150 mAh/g or more at initial cycle.
