METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POWER OF RFID READER IN MOBILE TERMINAL

A method of controlling the power of an RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) reader of a mobile terminal is provided to check a display state of the mobile terminal and automatically convert a standby mode of the RFID reader to a reading mode according to the checking result to provide uniformity of power control and prevent deterioration of power-saving efficiency. A driving mode of a display is checked in a standby mode in which operating power is not supplied to an RFID reader(S303). The standby mode of the RFID reader is maintained when the driving mode of the display corresponds to a slip mode and an RFID menu interface is checked when the driving mode corresponds to an operating mode(S307). The standby mode of the RFID reader is maintained when it is determined that an automatic RFID detecting function is not set to the RFID menu interface and the operating power is supplied to the RFID reader for converting the standby mode to a reading mode when it is determined that the automatic RFID detecting function is set(S311).
