MIGRATION APPARATUS WHICH CONVERT DATABASE OF MAINFRAME SYSTEM INTO DATABASE OF OPEN SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THEREOF

A migration device for converting database of a mainframe system to that of an opened system and a method thereof are provided to minimize error caused by difference between code systems and carry out the conversion in a short time, thereby reusing the database of the mainframe system in the open system effectively. A migration device for converting database of a mainframe system to that of an opened system includes a data extracting module(210) connected to database of a mainframe system(100) for extracting data formed of EBCDIC(Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code) in the binary form. A code conversion module(220) converts data of the extracted EBCDICs to ASCII(American Standard Code for Information Interchange), wherein fullwidth forms are converted to halfwidth forms corresponding to the ASCII by using halfwidth/fullwidth form conversion tables preset for the fullwidth forms. A data transmission module(230) transmits the data converted to the ASCII to database preset in an open system(300) correspondingly to that of the mainframe system.
