A hydraulic damper is provided to prevent the oscillation of a drum by generating a large amount of damping force in resonance, and absorb the vibration of the drum by dropping the damping force in normal status. A hydraulic damper comprises a cylinder(2) in which oil and gas are mixed, a piston(3) slid inside the cylinder, a piston rod(4), and a damping force generating device. The piston rod has one end connected to the piston and the other end extended to the outside of the cylinder. The damping force generating device generates the damping force by controlling the streaming of oil generated by the sliding movement of the piston. The damping force generating device consists of a passage(10) placed at the piston, and a valve body(14) installed along the axial direction of the piston to open portions of the passage by the axial movement. The valve body is placed inside the piston.
