A hydrogen generating material is provided to generate hydrogen by reacting the hydrogen generating material with water, and a water purification device filled with the hydrogen generating material is provided. As a hydrogen generating material for generating hydrogen(H2) by reacting with water, the hydrogen generating material is characterized in that each grain of the hydrogen generating material has a grain size level of particles or granules corresponding to a sieve size range of 20 to 50 meshes, and has a composition comprising 20 to 96 wt.% of high purity magnesium with a purity of 99.5 to 99.99%, 1 to 40 wt.% of calcite, and 3 to 40 wt.% of magnesium oxide. As a portable water purification device(10) for purifying a small quantity of water, the water purification device comprises: a case(11) in which a plurality of holes(11a) are formed; covers(12,12') which are joined with both ends of the case, and in which holes(12a,12a') are respectively formed; a metal mesh(14) which is installed at an inner side of the case, which has a sieve size of 100 meshes, and which is rustproof; and a hydrogen generating material(13) which is filled in the metal mesh, has a grain size level of particles, and generates hydrogen(H2) by reacting with water. |
