EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING APPARATUS

An apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas is provided to drive a sub diesel particulate matter filter independently from a main diesel particulate filter and enable exact measurement for an amount of accumulated particulate matter. A main diesel particulate matter filter(22) is installed in a main exhaust line(21) of a diesel engine(11). A sub exhaust line(21A) branches from the main exhaust line at a branching point provided at the upper stream of the main diesel particulate matter filter. A sub diesel particulate filter(22A) is installed in the sub exhaust line. The sub diesel particulate filter has a smoke storage amount less than a smoke storage amount of the main diesel particulate filter. A low pressure part has a pressure lower than the pressure of the branch point. A differential pressure measuring unit measures a differential pressure between an inlet and an outlet of the sub diesel particulate filter.
