The present invention is to relate an improved process using anisole as solvent for the preparation of compound of formula (I) and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. wherein R represents -NR<SUB>1</SUB>R<SUB>2</SUB>, or a group n=1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, where R<SUB>1 </SUB>and R<SUB>2 </SUB>may be same or different and independently represents hydrogen, or C<SUB>1-6 </SUB>alkyl.
