A portable terminal is provided to store a hardware interface connected to a smart battery separately from a software interface, thereby simply resetting interfaces. A portable terminal comprises a smart battery(20), a hardware interface unit(42) for connecting the smart battery and a terminal to each other, and a battery driver(50) having a software interface unit(52). The software interface unit processes information of the smart battery within the terminal so that the terminal controls the smart battery. An interrupt module(60) informs the battery driver of the interrupt of the smart battery. The hardware interface unit is stored in an additional fixed memory.
