A rear sensor of a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to enhance user convenience by displaying a rear view of the vehicle using a side view mirror. A rear sensor of a vehicle includes an obstacle detector, a display(30), a control box, and a cable. The obstacle detector detects an obstacle located behind the vehicle. The display is folded on a side portion of the vehicle within a viewing angle of a side view mirror of the vehicle, and displays a distance between the vehicle and the obstacle. The control box drives the obstacle detector in response to a backward signal and supplies a lighting signal corresponding to a distance between the vehicle and the obstacle to the display. The control box unfolds the display on the side portion of the vehicle. The cable electrically couples the display and the obstacle detector with the control box.
