A method for searching for a photograph in a portable terminal is provided to search for the photograph easily by using a face recognition function, thereby facilitating the management of photographs. An image of a comparative face is inputted. The inputted image is analyzed. A photograph is searched based on the analyzed result, wherein the photograph includes a face identical to the comparative face(319). The searched photograph is displayed(321). The image of the comparative face is inputted by photographing the comparative face in real-time and selecting the comparative face from a registered photograph folder.
