An auxiliary pager for a portable phone is provided to receive a phone number and a character signal transmitted from a base station to the portable phone directly, thereby allowing a user to recognize the phone number and the character signal even though the portable phone is powered off. An auxiliary pager for a portable phone comprises a receiving unit for receiving a phone number and a character signal, which are transmitted from a base station to the portable phone, and an LCD display unit for displaying the received phone number and character signal. The auxiliary pager hardly transmits a feedback signal of checking whether the phone number and the character signal are received.
