A pouch type lithium rechargeable battery is provided to ensure a maximal capacity of the battery while reducing the size of a bare cell. A pouch type lithium rechargeable battery has a pouch(40) which is formed in an approximately rectangular shape. First and second electrode taps(34,35) connected to an electrode assembly(30) are drawn from the upper end of the pouch. A tap sealing part(42) has a predetermined width(L1) and is formed at the upper end of the pouch. The tap sealing part is formed in a certain ratio relative to the height(L2) of the entire pouch. A ratio of the width(L1) of the tap sealing part to the height of the pouch satisfies the following relationship of (L1 / L2)x100% < 13%. |
