FIELD: polymer production. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of self-extinguishing hard-combustible unsaturated polyesters-based bromine-containing resins usable to produce fireproof compositions. Process comprises bromination of phthalic anhydride combined with fumaric acid or maleic anhydride in ethylene glycol medium or ethylene glycol/propylene glycol mixture at reaction temperature not below 80°C followed by step-by-step polycondensation of resulting bromoderivative with ethylene glycol or ethylene glycol/propylene glycol mixture and phthalic anhydride combined with fumaric acid or maleic anhydride. In the first step, reaction mixture is heated to 120°C, after which temperature is raised to 135°C and this temperature is maintained until 80-85% of calculated amount of water is released. In the second step, temperature is raised to 180°C over a period of time long enough to achieve acid number 100 mg KOH/g, whereupon styrene is added to polyester at weight ratio between 60:40 and 90:10 to obtain resin with desired viscosity. ^ EFFECT: enabled production of bromine-containing unsaturated polyesters having desired molecular weight, which are brominated on terminal OH groups without considerable content of dibromosuccinate units, and essentially reduced losses of glycols and bromine in the course of synthesis. ^ 1 tbl, 9 ex |
