FIELD: preparing of fresh tomatoes for storage and further usage in space feeding. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves inspecting tomatoes and holding and washing at predetermined mode parameters in sweet water; separating stems; sequentially holding in potassium permanganate solution, citric acid solution and suspension of preparation produced from biomass of Pythium irregulare micromycet by predetermined process; covering stem sites and adjoining surface with medicinal glue; exposing to ultraviolet radiation; packaging each tomato fruit in smoking paper and laying in polymer trays. Method allows tomatoes to be transported to space object, stored there during 45 days and used in space feeding. ^ EFFECT: prolonged shelf life.
