The invention relates to an illumination device, comprising a light source (1), suitable for the injection of divergent electromagnetic radiation (6) into an optic fibre (2), whereby injection of the electromagnetic radiation (6) into the optic fibre (2) is carried out by total reflection. Said optic fibre (2) is suitable for altering the main emission direction (17) of the electromagnetic radiation (6) and the optic fibre (2) has a one-piece embodiment. Light diodes are preferably used as light source (1). The illumination device is particularly suitable for the backlighting of displays. |
