An IP(Internet Protocol) address setup method and a device are provided to enable a mobile node to receive information on an IP address setup method used for the currently accessible networks from an IS(Information Server), so as to previously determine connection to one of the networks. An IP address setup information receiver(110) obtains information on an IP address setup method of a new network after handover through an IS. An IP address setup performer(120) performs IP address setup by using the IP address setup method while a mobile node accesses the new network. The information on the IP address setup method of the new network includes information indicating that the IP address setup method used in the new network is IPv4(IP version 4) static configuration.
