An effect sound service system and a method thereof are provided to send an effect sound by transmitting an effect sound identification code to the other side's terminal in executing a video call, without opening an additional audio channel. An effect sound service system comprises an effect sound service server(400) and a mobile terminal(100,300). The effect sound service server manages frequency band information and sampling information which are matched to a plurality of effect sounds, extracts frequency band information and sampling information according to effect sound selection information from a user, and provides the extracted information. The mobile terminal opens an additional audio channel for effect sound transmission in addition to a basic audio channel for a video call with the other side's terminal. The mobile terminal receives frequency band information and sampling information for a specific effect sound from the effect sound service server. If the effect sound is inputted, the mobile terminal filters the effect sound at the received frequency band, samples the effect sound on the basis of the received sampling information, and transmits the effect sound to the other side's terminal through the additional audio channel. |
