A display device is provided with a display section (104) which can display separate images (105, 106) for a plurality of visual directions on a same screen. Based on prescribed display switching conditions, the display device controls switching of display images for a prescribed direction among the plurality of visual directions, and performs control by permitting light transmission area change made by a light transmitting area changing means for each visual direction to correspond to display resolution of an image to be displayed for each visual direction or interlocks display content switching timing with directivity switching timing of the display direction.
