PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which suppresses the generation of moire of a high-frequency optical amplitude image even in a state in which the emission light of a first optical modulation element is extended from the pixel size of the corresponding pixel of a second optical modulation element. SOLUTION: The image display device is constituted so that the first optical modulation element and the second optical modulation element are optically serially arranged in a pixel unit and the image is displayed while controlling the transmittance. The image display device comprises a first optical modulation element control value determination section for obtaining a first control value from an image signal, a second optical modulation element control value determination section for obtaining a second control value from the image signal, a high-frequency high-amplitude signal detection section which determines the pixel of the first optical modulation element corresponding to the pixel relatively low in the transmittance from the second control value as a correction target pixel in a high-frequency high-amplitude region, a first optical modulation element control value correction section which corrects the first control value of the correction target pixel while corresponding to the transmittance of another pixel in the region, a first optical modulation element driving section which drives the first optical modulation element by the corrected first control value, and a second optical modulation element driving section which drives the second optical modulation element by the second control value.
