PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a player's feeling of incongruity by further carrying on updating in a necessary image while parallelly carrying out the displaying and updating of the image. SOLUTION: The game machine transfers image data stored in CGROM 203 to VRAM 204 by controlling VDP 240. Subsequently the game machine classifies the transferred image data into preferentially updated data and nonpreferentially updated data. Subsequently the game machine makes VDP 240 display the image data stored in VRAM 204 after the period of a frame as an image display section starts. The game machine makes VDP 240 update the image data transferred to VRAM 204 by the image data stored in CGROM 203 to ensure that the frequency of the preferentially updated data is higher than the frequency of the nonpreferentially updated data by the time when the frame period ends after the display.
