The key has a key shank (1) and a housing, where the key shank has a beard section and a support section (2). The beard section is rotatably supported in the housing around a rotational axis and is deformed by a spring against the housing, such that the key shank is rotatable from a position, in which the beard section is immersed into the housing, into another position, in which the beard section projects out from the housing. A locking mechanism (15) is guided into the housing in a torque proof manner, and engages for locking with a section in a recess (11) of the support section.
