The device has a base console (11) for guiding to a tractor (1). An operating device (19) is mounted adjustably to the base console and is adjusted between end positions by an actuator. The actuator is controlled by a control device (27). A reed contact (47) and timing units (61, 63) are attached to the control device, where the end positions of the operating device are adjusted by the reed contact and the timing units. A switch generates a switching signal for the control device with an adjusting position. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an extension device.
