摘要 A liquid crystal medium for MLC, TN or STN display devices is provided to realize a very low threshold voltage, high dielectric anisotropy, high clearing point, high resistivity and low birefringence. A liquid crystal medium comprises at least one compound represented by the following formula 1. In formula 1, R0 is a C1-C15 halogen-substituted or non-substituted alkyl or alkoxy radical, wherein at least one CH2 group of the radical is optionally substituted with -C=C-, -CF2O-, -CH=CH-, -O-, -CO-O- or -O-CO- in such a manner that O atoms are not directly bound to each other; X0 is F, Cl, CN, SF5, SCN, NCS, or C6 or lower halogenated alkyl, halogenated alkenyl, halogenated alkoxy or halogenated alkenyloxy radical; each of Y1 and Y2 independently represents H or F; and each of ring A and ring B represents the formulae (a), (b) or (c), wherein in at least one of ring A and ring B represents the formula (b).
