<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet that has preferable adhesiveness between a support and a back layer, high scratch resistance of the back layer and excellent handling property and no problem such as curling and that can be inexpensively manufactured with high productivity, and to provide a backlight unit for a liquid crystal display capable of improving qualities such as high luminance of the front face and uniformity of the luminance by using the above optical sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The optical sheet comprises a back layer 24, a support 22 and an optical layer 25 layered in this order, wherein the back layer comprises polyester resin and acrylic resin having an acid value.
