PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a phenolic dimer in a high yield by using trivalent manganese. SOLUTION: In the method for preparing the phenolic dimer, a solution containing phenols is mixed with a solution containing trivalent manganese to prepare the phenolic dimer, provided that the liquid temperature at mixing is≥50°C.
