A formwork system for concrete includes a metal mesh sheet (1) having a plurality of longitudinal reinforcing ribs (3) spaced apart from one another across the sheet and one or more metal support frames (6). Each frame (6) has a plurality of longitudinal supports (9) each of which has a protrusion (10) arranged to engage with a corresponding one of the longitudinal reinforcing ribs (3) of the metal mesh sheet, to provide lateral support for the sheet along the reinforcing ribs when concrete is poured into the formwork against the metal mesh sheet (1).
