PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device in which connection defects, when they are generated in a flexible wiring board for sustain electrodes, can be detected immediately. SOLUTION: The plasma display device comprises a plasma display panel, which is formed with wiring 27 for shorting commonly connected to one end of a plurality of sustain electrodes 23; a sustain electrode driving circuit 54 which supplies a driving voltage to the sustain electrodes; and the flexible wiring board 549, which electrically connects the sustain electrode driving circuit 54 and the wiring 27 for shorting. The flexible wiring board 549 is provided with a conductor 547 for driving for supplying the driving voltage to the sustain electrodes and a conductor 548 for connection check which is electrically connected to the wiring 27 for shorting. In addition, there is also provided a connection defect detecting circuit 500, which detects the electrical connection defect between the sustaining electrode drive circuit 54 and the wiring 27 for shorting.
