PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual insertion type IC card reader/writer having a card forced ejection mechanism configured so that a control lever to be operated when an IC card jammed inside is forcedly ejected can be prevented from being operated in a normal operation time. SOLUTION: A card forced ejection mechanism 20 of an IC card reader/writer 1 is provided with a control lever 21 and a holder extrusion plate 25, and when the control lever 21 is made to slide from a first position 21A to a second position 21B, the control lever 21 is engaged with a holder lock lever 9, and the lock of a card holder 5 is released, and the holder extrusion plate 25 is revolved, so that the card holder 5 is pushed forward. In such a state that the control lever 21 is positioned at the first position 21A, the control lever 21 and the holder extrusion plate 25 are disconnected from the holder lock lever 9 and the card holder 5, so that they are prevented from being moved while being interlinked with them.
