PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable it to perform a high-speed printing operation which satisfies a required specification of a product even with a smaller-scale power supply configuration. SOLUTION: In a printer equipped with a carriage which carries a recording head for ejecting an ink from the ink ejection part and making a record in a recording medium and a printing mechanism which includes a carriage driving mechanism for conveying the carriage along with the recording medium and a recording medium transfer mechanism for conveying the recording medium, a carriage drive profile control, by which a drive current required for driving the printing mechanism is estimated according to the printing conditions (S1 to S9) and the profile of a carriage drive which is performed by the carriage drive mechanism according to the estimated drive current is controlled (S10 to S14), is carried out.
