PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder and a recording medium processing method which can check a sample image by taking it out from a recording medium and form a roll-like printed matter with rewinding it in a roll after taking out the sample image in an on-demand image recording for winding the recording medium roll-like after making an image recording using the long recording medium which is wound roll-like. SOLUTION: The sample image is formed by a recording part 12 in the recording medium 16 pulled out from a roll. If the sample image is formed, a sample image recording domain (16A) including the sample image is cut off in a sample image processing unit 26 and discharged to a discharge tray 24. The pieces of the recording medium 16 whose sample image recording domain is cut are joined each other by a joining processing part (49).
