An apparatus and a method for processing a rope race of an elevator are provided to improve service quality of the elevator by reproducing the rope race formed on a driving sheave of the elevator within a short period of time. An apparatus for processing a rope race of an elevator comprises an attachment section(8), a processing section(9), and a support section(13). The attachment section is detachably coupled to a fixture member of the elevator. The processing section faces a predetermined rope race around which a main rope for suspending a body of the elevator is not wound. The support section is provided on the attachment section to support the processing section such that the processing section is freely moved in a radial direction of a driving sheave(4). The processing section has a grinding stone(10).
