<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a RAM area for use by disposing an ECC for an area needing a software error countermeasure, and using, for an area needing no software error countermeasure including a work RAM, an ECC memory prepared in the area as a general data RAM. <P>SOLUTION: A general data RAM area (X byte), a RAM for ECC (error check and correct) (X/2 byte), and a register having a value for controlling an area using ECC are mounted on the ECC memory.
