<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the production balance between ethylene and propylene and to enhance the efficiency in the purification process thereby reducing a utility cost and an equipment investment cost, in the manufacture of propylene by causing a 4C or higher olefin to react with methanol and/or dimethyl ether. <P>SOLUTION: A 4C or higher olefin raw material, a recycling fluid (X) and methanol and/or dimethyl ether are fed into a reactor 11. A gas (A) from the outlet of the reactor 11 is separated into a fluid (B) containing a 2C or lower hydrocarbon and propylene, a fluid abundant in propylene, a fluid (Y) abundant in a 4C or higher hydrocarbon and a fluid (P) abundant in water, and a part (X) of the fluid (Y) is recycled to the reactor 11 while the remainder is drawn out. The fluid (B) is fed to a steam cracking process and the fluid (P) is utilized as diluting steam in the cracker. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
