PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill handling device by which denominations such as change for disbursement are increased and furthermore, a denomination of the maximum amount can automatically be paid out without increasing the number of storage shed of bills. SOLUTION: A bill change machine 6 is provided with a mixed storage part 16 for storing bills of a plurality of denominations, a memory for storing the denominations of the bills stored in the mixed storage part 16 and a storage order from the side of a delivery part, and when a denominations of bills stored in the mixed storage shed 16 are designated to be output, the bills of the specified denomination when bills of the designated denomination exist within 10 bills from the side of the delivery part of the mixed storage shed 16, are delivered from the mixed storage shed 16. Bills of denominations other than the delivered designated denomination are stored in a recovery stacker 18 and the bills of the designated denomination are emitted to a depositing and dispensing port 8.
