PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device which is configured to store an upper limit or lower limit of an illumination time of a light emitting element for each light emission color, turn on a light emitting element of a light emission color to be turned on when the illumination time of a light emitting element other than the light emitting element of the light emission color to be turned on exceeds the upper limit or not turn on light emitting elements of other light emission colors until the illumination time of a light emitting element in an illumination state exceeds the lower limit, and then can stably control light emitting elements by turning on the light emitting element of the light emission color to be turned on to stably hold color balance, and preventing a specific light emitting element from staying on to prevent a control circuit from being broken. SOLUTION: A correcting unit 12 which corrects respective color control pulse currents generated by a DMD control unit 21 based upon upper limits or lower limits of illumination times by light emission colors stored in a storage unit 121 is disposed nearby respective color control circuits 11R, 11G, and 11B for making respective color LEDs 1R, 1R, ..., 1G, 1G, ..., and 1B, 1B, ... illuminate.
